Moving and resizing controls on a dialog

While using wxSmith, I can resize the dialog before putting any controls in place. Once I put a control on the form, it resizes to just contain the control. If I try to resize the dialog's form, it snaps back to the size of the control. If I grab the control and move it such that it falls slightly outside the boundaries of the form, the form snaps to be very small and I cannot resize it. Further, I cannot get to the controls on the form.

I'm using build 3183 (Nov. 6th?) on WindowsXP.
