wont compile

I just downloaded codeblocks 8.02 C++, and it won't run a source file I know to be valid. It tells me the file has not been built yet, however it seems to do nothing when I click on "yes build the file" in the pop up window. Is this a problem with Windows 7, or am I missing a fundamental thing here?
