Cut and paste text not working in the editor

When I do this:

* select some text (not full line of text, just some chars without end-of-line) in the editor

* press Ctrl-X to cut selection

* press Ctrl-L to delete this line

then when I press Ctrl-V to paste selected text, it pastes empty line.
